I don’t feel a connection between us

That’s exactly what I thought when I came here in 2005 and discover the Torontonian internet coverage : Canada Worse than 3rd World Countries when it comes to Mobile Data Access. Even for home access, I was expecting cheap high-speed internet, I just found slow high-price providers. The fastest I could find here was 6 Mbps, when the slowest you can find actually in Paris in 20 Mbps. In the same time, in France, optical fiber is spreading all over the place (see the Paris’ map here), for an internet connection up to 100 Mbits/s. I have to admit it’s to this day my main (only ?) disapointment in Canada.
